Mas Des Caprices lies in the Languedoc region, in a town called Leucate on the Mediterranean coast, between Narbonne and Perpignan. The 12 hectares of vineyard lie partly on the maritime part of the AOC Fitou, and partly in Corbieres, which also belongs to the AOC Rivesaltes.
Owners, Mireille and Pierre Mann, both children of Alsace winemakers, ran a restaurant near Colmar for 10 years. Their passion for delighting the palate was great, but deep down they knew that running a restaurant wasn't enough. In 2003 their call back to nature was too great, and they made the decision to reinvent themselves as wine makers, first trying Provence but eventually settling in Leucate. At first they had no wine making material, and their first wine was vinified in the coop cellar. They then took the opportunity to go organic, and in 2009 they got their organic certification and finally they could rejoice in becoming independent. Their guiding principle: work carefully in the vineyard, respect nature, delight the palate, rejoice through the glass and share the fun.
