The name comes from Anthocyanins, natural pigments that range from red, purple and blue on black grapes. During vinification of red wine, grape maceration allows gentle extraction of these pigments that give the wine lustre (they are a good anti-ageing antioxidant too apparently)! Mas Des Caprices Anthocyane 2011 is made mainly from Mourvédre, and blended with carignan and grenache. This wine is a beautiful dark purple colour, with a bouquet of black fruits (black cherry, damson), and pepper. Don't underestimate this wine, it has been aged beautifully (16 months in oak barrels), and has some punch, with lush dark fruit and spicy, peppery flavours. Best drank with food, something like a hearty meat stew, duck or a good steak. Big, bold and beautiful.
45% mourvedre, 30% carignan, 25% grenache
Mas Des Caprices BToB is like the Autumn to Gris Gris' Summer. A light golden colour, it is very dry, with notes of white flowers, honey, pear and an almost encapsulated sweetness on the nose. On the palate we could detect old fashioned pear drops, white peach, green apple and there was definite structure to it with lots of character, very very slight tartness, leaving a straw like dryness lingering on the tongue. Amazing to drink with our autumnal pork casserole, and great to have as an aperitif.
65% grenache gris, 35% viognier
Mas Des Caprices Gris Gris is a wonderfully unique and quite special white wine from the South of France. Based in Leucate, just 5 minutes from Fitou, Pierre and Mireille Mann are extremely passionate about their wine making, and you can tell when drinking their incredible wines. Their Gris Gris is made from Grenache gris and is very pale in colour. It has an elegant sharpness, is slightly mineral with a tangy crab apple flavour, and a light long lingering finish. This wine is excellent and a perfect compliment to Oysters, but will also marry beautifully with all other shellfish or grilled white fish. It's also great as an aperitif, and definitely stands out on the table at a dinner party.
Grenache gris, grenache blanc
Made with Grenache blanc and Maccabeo, a grape used for many great white Riojas, it is super fresh. Pale lemon in colour with green reflections, and a citrus aroma (zest of grapefruit, lemon). Wonderfully light, crisp and fresh, with aromatic notes of white flowers (honeysuckle), lemon zest and grapefruit, with a nice long and lingering finish. It is yet another very exciting wine from this vineyard.

65% maccabeo, 30% grenache gris, 5% muscat
Very pale in colour, with aromas so fresh that they remind us of being outside in the cold mountain air. A delicate fragrance of green pear trees, and peach. On the palate, subtle flavours of lychee, pear, and apple. Extremely light, fresh and subtly sweet which is unusual for a Muscat. Magnifique! This wine is absolutely perfect as an aperitif, with desserts, and with milder cheeses
Mas Des Caprices Oufti 2012, (an anagram of Fitou), is a blend of mainly Mourvédre with Carignan and Grenache. A gorgeous dark purple in colour, which on the nose has a tough warm scent with aromas of ripe cherries and soft sweet dark fruits. On the palate there are deep rich notes of black ripe fruits, (black cherry, damson), it is peppery and slightly spicy, all rounded off with a hint of oak. The tannins are very soft and well balanced. All in all a tremendous wine which can be drank as an aperitif, or would marry well with any beef dish.
50% mourvedre, 25% carignan, 25% grenache
Mas Des Caprices Ozé Rosé 2014, we think, is pretty special. If you like a dry, crisp, refreshing rosé then this is definitely the one for you. Biodynamic (like the rest of the wines from this chateau), zingy fresh absolute loveliness in a bottle. Zesty citrus fruits like pomelo and even the colour of it makes your mouth water. This rosé is perfect for drinking anytime the sun is out (or just pretend), and is excellent to have with fish, salads and all seafood.

Mas Des Caprices R.A.S 2016. The lightest red wine from the brilliant Biodynamic vineyard Mas Des Caprices. Mirielle and Pierre Mann really have a great craft, their R.A.S (Rouge A Siroter) is IGP (Vin de Pays de L’Aude), made from young vines of Carignan, Grenache and Mourvèdre, vinification “millefeuille” by short maceration of 10 days and aged in concrete tanks. It is a nice and light fruity wine, perfect as an aperitif or with charcuterie, and grilled meats.

Mas Des Caprices Retour Aux Sources 2013 is a beautiful natural wine. A blend of Carignan, syrah and grenache noir, with a gorgeous garnet colour, and an intense nose of fresh ripe dark fruits (black cherries), and peppery earthy tones. A very pleasant structure on the palate, very soft and fruity, with black cherry and blackberries, mildly spicy with fine sweet tannins. A beautiful lingering finish. Absolutely delicious and popular with some of our London restaurant customers! Great as an aperitif, or with grilled or barbecued red meats and goes well with medium spicy food.
