Domaine des Lauribert has been producing its own wines, under the guidance of Laurent Sourdon and his team, since leaving the cooperative system in 1997. The Côtes Du Rhône Tradition 2014 has a superb nose, with forward notes of black currant, redcurrants very slight raspberry. Vibrant ruby red colour. On the palate there is good light fruity balance of red berries and raspberry, and tiny bit of liquorice coming through at the end. Beautiful soft tannins. Slips down very nicely, and is a nice alternative to a beaujolais. A lovely light-medium red that won't disappoint. A fantastic Côtes Du Rhône that can be enjoyed by itself or great with lighter meals.

When we sampled the wines from Domaine Des Lauribert, two stood out for us, their Tradition and this one. Both quite different, but both fantastic examples of a great Côtes du Rhône villages. It was named La Carelette in honour of the father Carelet, a winemaker with a strong personality who reigned over the hills, and whose enthusiasm and skills have been passed through the family over five generations. La Carelette Valeréas Côtes du Rhône Villages has an intense ruby red colour, with a fabulous bouquet of cooked red fruits - red cherry, plum. It is medium bodied, with a good balance of the juicy red fruit flavours, and subtle tannins. It has nice sweet notes in the finish. Works well with lamb. This is what we would call a very reliable Rhône, I like to call it a 'juicy delight'
